Play Golf America's Family Golf Month Celebrates 5th Anniversary

(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) -- Play Golf America's Family Golf Month celebrates its fifth anniversary in July encouraging families to hit the links together, giving family members - young and old - the opportunity to learn and play the game in a structured, yet casual atmosphere, while having fun.

This year, more than 1,140 facilities nationwide have registered for Family Golf Month and there are more than 3,500 family programs to choose from on PlayGolfAmerica.com. Throughout the year, many of these facilities promote special rates for junior golfers at $20 or less. Other promotions include Take Your Daughter to the Course Week and Bring Your Kids to the Range, which encourages families to spend time together playing golf.

During the week of July 5-11, The PGA of America is teaming up with the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) to promote Take Your Daughter to the Course Week, a program designed to promote overall participation in golf, especially among girls and their families. More than 700 participating facilities will offer free green fees to girls accompanied by a paying adult, with many facilities also offering a free clinic for young ladies. Similarly, Bring Your Kids to the Range encourages families to golf together with special offers on range ball purchases at participating facilities during the month of July.

As a newly added promotion to PlayGolfAmerica.com, Kids Play Free features hundreds of courses nationwide waving their fees for junior golfers entirely when accompanied by a paying adult. Engaging young golfers is a major way that Play Golf America's junior golf programs support Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" initiative to help combat childhood obesity, as studies show that walking the golf course reduces levels of bad cholesterol, burns calories, prevents heart disease, and helps oxygenate the body and improve posture.

In addition to these Family Golf Month activities, PGA/LPGA Professionals may also customize additional programs that best fit their facility, resources and style such as 3-, 6-, or 9-hole scrambles, family golf tees and score cards or a family cookout to celebrate the day.

"We really encourage our PGA and LPGA Professionals to have fun with their family and junior programs," said PGA of America President Jim Remy. "It's so important to get juniors involved in the game at an early age because statistics show that 49 percent of juniors introduced to the game of golf are still playing at 25-years old or older."

More than 800 PGA facilities are offering the PGA Family Course Program, which offers a "short course" experience within an existing course. The shorter course makes it easier for kids to learn the sport, while also making the game more affordable. Thanks to a partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), PGA Family Course tees will be available at another 60 park and municipal courses in July. Hosted year round at participating facilities, the PGA Family Course program is a collaboration between The PGA of America and U.S. Kids Golf.

"It's always encouraging to see the next generation of golfers get excited about coming to the range with their families, because there's nothing like the look on a kid's face when they hit that first good shot." Remy added.

For more information on Play Golf America and any of the family or junior golf programs, consumers can visit PlayGolfAmerica.com. The site allows users to find and register at participating facilities in their area by searching their city or zip code.

Play Golf America, designed to increase participation among new and occasional adult golfers, was developed by The PGA of America, with the support of Allied Associations including: the LPGA, National Golf Course Owners Association, PGA Tour, USGA and others involved in the annual Golf 20/20 Conference. The program utilizes the PlayGolfAmerica.com Web site to serve as a link for consumers to access fun, affordable and informative programs in their area.

Since 1916, The PGA of America's mission has been twofold: to establish and elevate the standards of the profession and to grow interest and participation in the game of golf. By establishing and elevating the standards of the golf profession through world-class education, career services, marketing and research programs, the Association enables PGA Professionals to maximize their performance in their respective career paths and showcases them as experts in the game and in the multi-billion dollar golf industry. By creating and delivering dramatic world-class championships and exciting and enjoyable golf promotions that are viewed as the best of their class in the golf industry, The PGA of America elevates the public's interest in the game, the desire to play more golf, and ensures accessibility to the game for everyone, everywhere. The PGA of America brand represents the very best in golf. Visit pga.com or PlayGolfAmerica.com to learn more.

Wilson Staff D:25 Golf Ball Earns Golf Digest Hot List Medal

New Traction Control Technology delivers superior performance with new groove standards

(CHICAGO) – Wilson Golf was awarded an esteemed Golf Digest magazine Hot List medal for its newly designed D:25 golf ball in the “$20 and under” golf ball category.

D:25 features new Traction Control Technology to offer great spin without sacrificing distance. The award was announced in the June issue.

“Wilson is proud to have its golf balls recognized as one of the industry’s best,” said Tom Gruger, global director of marketing of Wilson Golf. “Affirmation from a leading publication is the kind of third-party endorsement that fuels trial with consumers, and that's great for us. This is an extremely soft distance ball that excels in head-to-head comparisons.”

Wilson Staff’s 2010 golf balls - developed in anticipation for the new groove standards - promote more spin and better playability around the greens.

The winner of the Hot List silver award, the D:25 is a low-compression two-piece ball delivering minimal spin off the driver face. A 302-dimple design provides high lift conditions for more height on tee shots and longer carry distances. The D:25 golf ball was designed for players looking to hit longer drives and minimize mis-hits.

All Wilson Staff golf balls are built on a low-compression platform featuring ultra-soft, high-velocity cores for the softest feel with no sacrifice in distance.

All three golf balls, the FG Tour, C:25 and D:25 utilize Wilson’s breakthrough Traction Control Technology which is specifically tailored for the industry’s new less-aggressive groove specifications. At impact, the low compression construction conforms to the clubface where more grooves are engaged through Traction Control Technology providing golfers with a 17 percent higher surface contact area and 13 percent more grooves that are engaged during impact compared to industry leading golf balls.

Most recently, Wilson Golf introduced an innovative approach to online golf ball fitting to help simplify the ball selection process. Consumers can go to: www.wilson.com/getfit and follow a series of questions to determine the best ball for their game.

Wilson Golf was awarded three other Golf Digest magazine Hot List medals in 2010:
* Gold medal for the revolutionary Wilson Staff D-FY iron/hybrid combination set in the super-game improvement iron category with the patent-pending Half-and-Half shaft technology to deliver the accuracy of steel and the response of graphite;
* Gold medal award for the Wilson Staff Conform golf glove made of premium Abyssinian cabretta leather with the I-Pure wristband releasing negative ions to help body’s overall performance; and
* Silver medal for the Wilson Staff FG Tour irons in the player iron category for the better player looking for tour-preferred feel and response.

All Wilson Staff equipment introduced in 2010 meets the new USGA and R&A groove standards for Conditions of Competition for Elite (Tour) Play.

Additional information is available on the Wilson Staff website at www.wilsonstaff.com.

The suggested list price for the Wilson Staff FG Tour golf ball is $37.99 per dozen, $24.99 per dozen C:25 golf balls and $19.99 for one dozen D:25 golf balls.

Three rounds of golf (one per course) with lunch, four nights' oceanfront resort lodging and breakfast, and unlimited range balls highlight the package. Starting at $193 per person, double occupancy, taxes and fees are included; cart fees are extra.

The Witch sits on 500 acres of tranquil cypress groves and wetlands teeming with flora and fauna. Tactical play is rewarded on the par-71, 6,702-yard layout. With 4,000 feet of bridges wending through swamps (front nine) and rolling hills (back nine), golfers may spy cranes, bald eagles, alligators and black bears.

Man-O-War is revered for its back-to-back island greens and water features touching every hole. With a commanding 141 slope rating, the par-72, 6,967-yard layout is offset by straight-forward shots and massive, bent-grass greens.

Reminiscent of classic, wind-swept links courses in Scotland and Ireland, The Wizard presents deep bunkers, mound-framed fairways and dramatic elevation changes. Trademark stone bridges and an Old-World, castle-style clubhouse add character to the par-72, 6,721-yard shot-maker's course.

adidas Golf Brings Comfort, Style to the Range and the Golf Course with Rangewear

adidas Golf Introduces Rangewear, A New Category of Yoga-Inspired Golf Athletic Performance Pieces That Offer Comfort and Style On and Off The Course

(CARLSBAD, Calif.) – After researching consumer demands in the golf market, discovered there was a need for an option that golfers could wear when practicing. So, adidas Golf created Rangewear, a lightweight, comfortable jacket and pant combination that gives golfers performance and style specifically when on the driving range.

"When we looked at what people were wearing on the range, we found a gap between the recognized, complete golf outfit and something casual to practice in," said Patricia Dahan, Senior Director of Global Apparel. "It became about being comfortable and relaxed and Rangewear delivers on all of those promises. Golfers can be comfortable and stylish when practicing and still benefit from the performance they would expect from adidas Golf apparel."

Men's Rangewear consists of a slightly-fitted, lightweight polyester jacket and pant featuring 3-Stripes branding. The Rangewear jacket comes equipped with an internal MP3 pocket with a pass-through eyelet for headphones, giving golfers the opportunity to tune in to music and tune everything else out. The Rangewear Pant includes an elastic waistband with an internal drawstring for comfort and a tee holder on the left pocket. Men's Rangewear pieces also go well with the new ClimaCool T-shirt, 100 percent polyester CoolMax Extreme jersey, contributing to the comfort, performance and style of the Rangewear concept. Men's Rangewear is offered in one colorway, black, with a MSRP (manufactures suggested retail price) of $65 for the Range Wear Jacket and $55 for the Range Wear Pant. These products are available only at green grass accounts and golf specialty accounts nationwide.

Women's Rangewear features ClimaLite technology fabricated with a polyester/Lycra blend making the fabric highly-breathable and lightweight to help wick moisture away from the skin. Both jacket and pant have a yoga-inspired fit to add a stylish look and include contrast adidas brandmarking. Like men's, the women's jacket is also equipped with an internal MP3 pocket with a pass through eyelet for headphones. The pant also includes an elastic waistband with an internal drawstring for comfort and a tee holder on the left pocket. Women's Rangewear is offered in two colorways, black and navy, with an MSRP of $70 for the ClimaLite Rangewear Jacket and $55 for the ClimaLite Rangewear Pant.

With nearby Cameron University as host school, top collegiate golfers in the South Central and Midwest regions will test their considerable skills on the award-winning Randy Heckenkemper design.

“Sharing our course with such an impressive group of golfers is an extreme pleasure,” said Rick Braught. “Cameron University is an important partner in this area and we’re proud to join forces to put Southwest Oklahoma’s best foot forward as so many people experience our region for the first time.”

In addition to Cameron, other schools representing the South Central Region are: Abilene Christian, Central Missouri, St. Edward's, St. Mary's, Dallas Baptist, Midwestern State, Central Oklahoma, Newman and East Central. Individuals from Southwest Baptist, Northeastern State and Washburn also will participate. The Midwest Region is comprised of: Ferris State, Wayne State, Indianapolis, Grand Valley State, Drury, Northern Kentucky, Wisconsin-Parkside, Saginaw Valley State, Findlay and Bellarmine, as well as individuals from Rockhurst, Ashland, Lewis and Missouri-St. Louis.

The top five teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the finals May 18 through 21 at The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind.

The Territory – named No. 3 in GolfLink's list of the “Best Oklahoma Golf Courses” (ahead of Southern Hills Country Club – host of three U.S. Opens and four PGA Championships) – is a modified target-style layout that features A1-A4 creeping bentgrass blend on the greens, while the tees, fairways and roughs are Tifsport Bermudagrass.

1757 Golf Club (Dulles, VA) to Open 18 Holes to the Public May 6

(DULLES, VA) – 1757 Golf Club, which unveiled 10 holes to rave reviews last May, will open its complete, 18-hole championship course to the public May 6.

Designed by David Heatwole, formerly with Jack Nicklaus’ design company, the 6,623-yard, 18-hole, par-70 gem places premiums on shot-making and using every club in golfers’ bags for fair challenges to all handicappers. The new and existing holes – featuring bentgrass from tee to green – mesh seamlessly, retaining the aesthetic themes of stone walls, gently rolling terrain with elevation changes up to 30 feet and views of the majestic Virginia landscape.

Playing experiences crescendo at the signature par-3, No. 18 hole with a daring iron shot 150 to 165 yards (depending on pin placement) over water onto a narrow green. With the clubhouse and patio as eye-pleasing backdrops, low wind is blocked, creating an illusion of calmness, but air swirling at higher elevations emphasize proper club selection.

“Golfers prefer 1757 for its wide-range of amenities befitting a private club,” says Steve Keating, General Manager of 1757 Golf Club. “The eight new holes have a ‘wow’ effect similar to the initial 10 holes.”

1757 Golf Club is just outside Dulles Airport, adjacent to Dulles 28 Centre and on Waxpool Road off Route 28. Greens fees (including cart rental) are:
* Monday – Thursday: $65 before 2 p.m., $55 after 2 p.m. and $39 after 4 p.m. $49 for seniors all day.
* Friday – Sunday and holidays: $95 before 2 p.m., $65 after 2 p.m. and $49 after 4 p.m.

Specials on opening weekend (Thursday, May 6 to Sunday, May 9):
* The first 500 golfers receive a commemorative 1757 Golf Club hat
* The Cleveland Tour Van allows golfers to test clubs on Sunday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
* Discount one-hour lessons for $65
* A $125 range card with a $300 golf-shop purchase
* Happy Hour each day from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Managed by Billy Casper Golf, 1757 Golf Club is dubbed “The Ultimate Golf Experience” for its complete practice-and-play features.

The horseshoe driving range – 76 hitting stations, including 20 on grass and lighted for night play – presents simulated fairways and target greens. The expansive short-game area includes tees, mini-fairways, bunkers and greens for practice and PGA-certified instruction.

The “Golf Academy at 1757” – the region’s most comprehensive, state-of-the-art golf learning center with high-tech swing analysis – conducts junior summer camps in addition to individual and group instruction. The 1757 Golf Tour Trailer provides professional club fitting and repair.

1757 Golf Club’s richly-appointed, 16,000-square-foot clubhouse is home to the SeventeenFiftySeven restaurant that opened last month serving authentic American-style fare. The bar, boardroom, meetings and banquet space (combined seating for 250 people) provide a distinguished venue for corporate outings, weddings and other social events. The clubhouse also features two outdoor patios and men’s and women’s locker rooms.

Named after the year Loudoun County was established, 1757 Golf Club celebrates Virginia’s deep presidential history with event rooms named after state natives George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe and Woodrow Wilson.

Burgeoning Olde Mill Unveils Fourth Residence Design Style

The Overlook Condominiums Now for Sale in Blossoming Blue Ridge Mountain Resort Community

(LAUREL FORK, VA) – “That is perfect,” sighed the North Carolina-based wife, resting her head upon her husband’s broad, polo-clad shoulder.

She wasn’t speaking about the 210-yard drive she smoked earlier on Olde Mill’s highly-acclaimed golf course, or the savory post-round lunch at The Maples Restaurant or even the peaceful, idyllic surroundings just minutes of the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway. Instead she was referring to the brand-new luxurious-yet-affordable condominiums, The Overlook, shrouded in the private, wooded enclave of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Olde Mill – the 850-acre master planned community – conveniently located an hour from Roanoke, Va., and Winston-Salem, N.C., and two hours from Charlotte – unveils its fourth housing option, The Overlook. Joining the previously constructed and recently renovated Overlook Villas, new Laurel Mountain Manors and custom estate homes, these condominiums are designed with the authentic mountain-craftsman style architecture, abundant throughout the property.

A calling to nature and a lifestyle that embraces peaceful living and outdoor recreation, Olde Mill operates under the telling brand promise “Blue Ridge Mountain Living as it Should Be.” One glance around the picturesque property, dotted with walking trails, fishing holes and community activities, confirms that mantra.

“The two bedrooms are perfect for when the kids come to visit,” the wife said. “It can be our home away from home with both of our girls at Virginia Tech, it’s so close to campus.”

A vision of Blacksburg alums, Olde Mill meshes tranquility with a nature-kissed landscape, nearby a variety of attractions including celebrated wineries, festivals, shopping and sporting events. Olde Mill is the best of both lifestyle worlds – serenity and harmony combined with convenience and activity.

“We now showcase four exquisite housing options, starting at just $200,000,” says Mark Wuerthele, Broker-In-Charge. “There is not a better value for inviting housing located so close to Virginia and the Carolinas. We are excited to share our community with those searching for a fulfilling, mountain-oasis lifestyle.”

Sip a cocktail at sunset on the deck of The Tavern at Olde Mill – perched gloriously above the resort community’s 54-acre lake and golf course below. Meander through marked trails in the mountains, swim in the pool, exercise in the fitness center, play tennis or relish an exquisite meal by accomplished Chef Ed Badgett III at Olde Mill’s Maples Restaurant.

Ranging in price from $239,000 – $309,000, these modern 1,300-square-foot condominiums boast a warm design while providing modern amenities and luxuries. Each 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit offers individual garages, gas fireplaces, granite counters, ceramic title floors, exposed cedar beams, rock accents around fireplace and base of beams, General Electric Appliances and 10-foot balconies overlooking the 18th green. The Overlook is done by Atlanta-based Garrell & Associates.

Upgrade options include the following enhancement choices: flooring, appliances, bathroom, lighting and plumbing fixtures.

Appointments to tour Olde Mill are now being welcomed and those interested should contact Mark Wuerthele at mark@oldemill.net or call 800.753.5005. Hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Sweetgrass Golf Club (Upper Peninsula) Shines in Golfweek’s Coveted ‘Best in State’ Rankings

Amenity of the Island Resort & Casino Up Six Spots, Improves on Debut Last Season
(HARRIS, MI) – Sweetgrass Golf Club – the Island Resort & Casino’s award-winning, Paul Albanese design – climbed six spots to No. 14 in Golfweek’s annual “America’s Best Courses You Can Play” 2010 rankings. The course debuted on the national publication’s elite list last year, its first full season.

More than 500 Golfweek raters play and rank thousands of courses nationwide on criteria which include feature shaping, natural setting, greens, variety, conditioning and maintenance, landscape management, and overall impressionability.

Owned and operated by the Hannahville Band of the Potawatomi Nation, the 18-hole, par 72 layout stretches nearly 7,300 yards from the tips and has been touted as one of Michigan’s premier facilities, out of approximately 700 courses. Sweetgrass unfolds over rolling terrain and subtly pays homage to Native American lore. Historic bridges rescued from the region, intricate rockwork and a liberal sprinkling of its namesake sweetgrass add to the course’s distinct look and feel.

“Earning a place on this prestigious list lets us know that Sweetgrass Golf Club is trending in the right direction,” said Sweetgrass Director of Golf Dave Douglas. “Our mandate is to provide an experience which golfers savor and value, and we hope this award will entice them to visit us and judge for themselves.”

Sweetgrass and Island Resort & Casino are the hub of a rising-star golf destination in Michigan’s pristine Upper Peninsula, where summer temps are refreshing compared to most of the mainland United States. They will again offer the popular 3-day, 2-night “Perfect 4-Some” stay-and-play package. Starting at $249, based on double occupancy, golfers enjoy luxurious accommodations at the resort and one round each at Sweetgrass, TimberStone and Marquette Greywalls – three of the Upper Peninsula’s finest. TimberStone is a rare Golf Digest 5-star facility, while Marquette Greywalls frequently finds itself near the top of the Golfweek “Best in State” list.

Sweetgrass and the resort casino are easily accessible via airports in Escanaba and Marquette, as well as Green Bay’s Austin Straubel International Airport.

Product Review: Nike SQ Machspeed Driver

Speed kills. Speed also wins. If you’re looking to kill the ball and win more golf matches, you may want to consider putting the Nike SQ Machspeed Driver in your bag.

With aerodynamics in mind, Nike set out to develop a driver that would allow golfers to hit the ball farther and straighter – all due to speed.

We’ve seen and enjoyed Nike’s STR8-FIT technology, which enhances the ability to shape shots off the tee, and square design, but the sporting goods giant has now added Total Swing Aerodynamic Design to its impressive resume.

Looking to generate more speed – resulting in more distance – the engineers approached the golf swing holistically.

“The number one thing that makes the ball go farther is faster ball speed. We’ve accomplished that through looking at the orientation of aerodynamics throughout the total golf swing, not just a portion of the swing,” said Tom Stites, Director of Club Creation for Nike Golf. “Optimizing aerodynamics in the total golf swing pulls the clubhead and shaft through the air faster, which leads to more distance. I’ll use a parachute as an example. The wider the parachute is, the slower it comes down because air separates around the parachute and causes drag. The same thing applies to the golf club, but through geometry and Total Swing Aerodynamics, we have been able to minimize the air separation and drag.”

That’s all well and good for the people who wear lab coats, but what about those of us who only know what we know … Will the Nike SQ Machspeed Driver help me hit the ball longer and straighter? To answer that, I took it out for a test drive.

First, I’m a traditionalist in many ways, but had no trouble with the square head. It seems perfectly natural while resting behind a golf ball. In a way, it may be more logical to hit a straighter shot with a square head.

One tee shot after another found its way into the fairway. Not being a machine, you allow for “user error,” but that was minimized greatly. Straighter … Check!

You don’t need any comparison for accuracy. Is the ball resting in the short grass? Then it is accurate. Distance is a different animal. For that comparison, I took to the driving range with another leading driver.

A robot is clearly the best way to judge distance as you can set the swing speed and contact to be the same, time after time, but experienced golfers can certainly evaluate long from short. While I didn’t have the benefit of a measurement for each shot and the plethora of balls on the range made it difficult to gauge my final distances, the Nike SQ Machspeed driver was consistently 5-10 yards further than its competition.

An added 5-10 yards may not seem as important when talking 250 vs. 260, but those yards mean a great deal when looking at 140 vs. 150 on the approach shot.

The Nike Machspeed Driver has a suggested retail price of $359.99, which is in line with (or beats) other high-end drivers. Longer, straighter drives lead to fewer strokes, which leads to more wins against your playing partners. With any luck the driver will pay for itself with well-timed wagers.

American Golfer Recommendation: Put the Nike SQ Machspeed Driver in your bag, forget what the rough feels like and prepare to hit shorter approach shots into the greens.

Still looking for technical jargon? How about this:

Fast Start
The tapered heel geometry and toe-side aerodynamic Nike PowerBow design promote smooth air flow around the head for quicker acceleration.

Acceleration
As speed increases, so does drag force. But the aerodynamic Nike PowerBow and sole diffuser designs keep the airflow smooth and close to the club surface, reducing drag and encouraging a faster acceleration.

Maximum Speed
Drag reduction through-out the downswing allows the club to reach its true maximum speed, delivering maximum energy to the ball.

To shape any shot, the Nike STR8-FIT technology in the SQ MACHSPEED delivers eight face angle options – two degrees open to two degrees closed. For stability and forgiveness, the SQ MACHSPEED features Tour proven square technology that delivers more stability at impact and more forgiveness on the tee.

SQ MACHSPEED Driver
Men’s: Loft Options: 8.5 (RH); 9.5 (RH/LH); 10.5 (RH/LH); 11.5 (RH); HL (RH) All available in: A,R,S,X

Women’s: Loft Options: 11.5 (RH); HL (RH) All available in W (women’s) shaft.

Kraft Nabisco Easter Ball Hunt Features Chromax Golf Balls

(RANCHO MIRAGE, CA) - Easter Sunday at the Kraft Nabisco Championship is always special. But this year there is something a little extra, and fun, for the kids. Before this year’s winner jumps into the pond beside the 18th green at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, an Easter ‘Ball’ Hunt will set the stage for the Kraft Nabisco’s tradition of fun, family involvement, and excitement.

Following the Easter Sunrise Service, as many as 800 youngsters under the age of 10 will hunt for 1,500 brilliantly colorful Chromax golf balls hidden on the 18th hole of The Arnold Palmer Course at Mission Hills.

“Once the children finish the Hunt, they’ll turn in their Chromax balls to redeem prizes of Kraft products, and a few of the balls will be specially marked for Clemmy’s ice cream vouchers,” Gabe Codding, Kraft Nabisco Championship business manager explained. “When all the balls have been collected, they will be donated to the Coachella Valley chapter of the First Tee program.”

The great idea for combining fun and a worthwhile cause came about as Codding and Sean Daigle, responsible for Marketing and New Media, discussed Easter Sunday plans for the tournament.

“Historically, we’ve always held a Sunrise Service and we were talking about having a big Easter Egg hunt,” Codding recalled. “I happened to have a sleeve of Chromax balls on my desk – a silver, pink, and bright orange ball – and we looked at them and said: ‘Hey, wouldn’t it be cool to use the Chromax balls instead of eggs.’”

Ryan Chin, of AMA Golf, area distributor for Chromax, donated 720 of the unique high-visibility Chromax golf balls.

“We have been serving the golf industry for over 38 years and are proud to support The Kraft Nabisco Championship, the First Tee, and local communities,” said Chin. “The Easter Ball Hunt is natural for us and Chromax.”

The colorful Chromax golf balls conform to USGA rules. The unique inner reflective fluorescent layer in pink, green, orange, silver, gold, or blue under a clear outer layer produces remarkable visibility while the ball is in the air and on the grass in Easter Ball Hunts.

Kraft Nabisco added another 780 Chromax balls and the Hunt was on adding another fun chapter to the rich history of one of golf’s most historic events. The 2010 Kraft Nabisco Championship, March 29 through April 4, is the first Major of the LPGA Tour season. Since 1972, the Championship has been staged at Mission Hills, making the Kraft Nabisco the second-longest running tournament held at one location in all of golf, trailing only The Masters at Augusta National.

Registration for the first Easter Ball Hunt at the 39th Kraft Nabisco is available on Kraft Nabisco Championship Web site: www.KNCGOLF.com.

All registrants are eligible for grand prizes including autographed memorabilia, and $100 certificates for The Gallery merchandise tent at the tournament.

“It’s going to crazy when that air horn sounds to start the hunt,” said Daigle. “It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Stretching 7,256 yards from the tips, Jack Frost National plays to a manageable distance of 5,129 from the forward tees. The Terry LaGree-design is one of more than 35 options – ranging from challenging championship layouts to beginner-friendly par-3s – that proliferate the four-county region. Among the 18 signature holes is the picturesque par-3, 169-yard No. 11 that tests the most skilled golfers. In the middle of a daunting five-hole stretch that can make or break a round, the 11th features an undulating green guarded by bunkers and a demanding back-right pin placement.

“Jack Frost National is an excellent addition to the Pocono Mountains golf destination,” said Carl Wilgus, President and CEO of the PMVB. “Being named ‘Best in State’ is a significant award and wonderful reinforcement of the high-quality options we offer players.”

Enhanced online questionnaire helps golfers choose the perfect golf ball for their game

(CHICAGO) - Wilson Golf has expanded its unique online fitting tool to include a section dedicated to helping golfers select the perfect golf ball.

The Get Fit tool has been enhanced with a golf ball specific questionnaire process, making the Get Fit custom fitting center the easiest and most comprehensive way to navigate golf equipment selection. Golfers may visit www.wilson.com/getfit, where they will engage in an easy to use, interactive question and answer session that will deliver the golf ball that best suits a player's style and ability.

"Golf ball selection is a vital part of every golfer's strategy," said Bob Thurman, Wilson Golf's global director of golf R&D. "The Get Fit golf ball tool provides a simplified understanding of the various technical components in ball design tailored for each player, helping golfers at every skill level maximize their accuracy, distance and overall enjoyment of the game."

Wilson Staff has introduced three new golf balls in 2010:
Wilson Staff FG Tour Golf Ball - The FG Tour golf ball, designed for the competitive golfer, joins the forged family of Wilson Staff equipment alongside the FG Tour irons. The three-piece, multi-layer ball is a low-compression distance golf ball covered in a thin, soft veneer of urethane to deliver maximum traction control for iron and wedge shots. The FG Tour is Wilson's softest, highest-spinning multi-piece urethane ball and was created as a low compression solution for competitive players looking for tour-caliber spin, maximum greenside control and excellent distance. In internal testing, the Wilson Staff FG Tour golf ball had longer and straighter ball flights than other leading premium golf balls.
Wilson Staff C:25 Golf Ball - The latest edition to the "C" family of golf equipment, the Wilson Staff C:25, a low-compression three-piece ball delivering minimal spin off the driver, is best matched with the Wilson Staff Ci9 iron. The C:25 promotes progressively higher spin as the player approaches the pin for shots inside 150 yards. The golf ball features a 302-dimple pattern to provide high lift conditions for more height on tee shots and from long distances.
Wilson Staff D:25 Golf Ball - Wilson Staff's "D", or distance, golf balls are introduced in conjunction with Wilson Staff Di9 and D-FY irons. The D:25 is a low-compression two-piece ball delivering minimal spin off the driver face. The D:25 golf ball was designed for players looking to hit longer drives and minimize mis-hits.

All Wilson Staff golf balls are built on a low-compression platform featuring ultra-soft, high-velocity cores for the softest feel with no sacrifice in distance. All three golf balls utilize Wilson's breakthrough Traction Control Technology which is specifically tailored for new and less aggressive groove specifications. Traction Control Technology provides golfers with 17 percent more surface contact area and 13 percent more grooves engaged during impact.

The suggested list price for Wilson Staff FG Tour golf ball is $49.99 per dozen, $34.99 per dozen C:25 golf balls and $29.99 for one dozen D:25 golf balls.
