GoBe Introduces The Rebel Golf Shoe

The “Go Anywhere” Outsole Features 5-Point Star Traction

(Austin, Minn.) – GoBe Golf, a new golf footwear company, has introduced its new Rebel shoe. The Rebel leads the line of GoBe’s high performance footwear with a game-changing tread designed for ideal traction and maximum grip throughout the golf swing. GoBe’s innovative, patent-pending Talon tread sole design allows for superior traction on the course without the need for cleats for a “go anywhere” design. The Rebel features sophisticated styling in traditional earth tones.

“Our staff of top designers, technical engineers and PGA professionals built this shoe from the ground up to offer golfers maximum stability and comfort. We want golfers able to perform at their best,” said Joe Allen, President, GoBe Golf. “We engineered these shoes to be an essential part of a golfer’s equipment. We are golf experts focused on creating high performance footwear designed for the game.”

The Rebel outsole is a patent-pending Talon tread sole design that uses a molded 5-point star traction pattern to provide maximum grip throughout the golf swing. The points of each star grip the grass, creating superior traction without damaging the turf. The stars are strategically placed on the sole to keep dirt and debris from building up. The sole’s non-slip vertical and horizontal traction stripes complement the star treads and stabilize the golfer during the powerful motion of the swing. The Talon tread sole is made of single density, Grade A TPU, which is more durable than rubber, with as much flexible as rubber.

“Our two-year warranty on the sole is our commitment that GoBe shoes are made to perform well for a very long time,” said Allen.

GoBe’s PurTEC upper is specifically designed to be roughly 20 times more water resistant than treated leathers. It breathes, keeps its color and shape, resists stains and is extremely durable in hot or wet conditions.

The GoBe Dry shoe liner has a patent-pending interior moisture management system; with drainage channels, aeration holes at flex points and notches above the toe area to drain perspiration away from feet. The moisture-wicking fiber lining also aerates, and has anti-microbial and anti-odor properties to keep feet cool, dry and fresh. The liner has an EVA soft, core center for extra padding at the ball and heel of the foot to provide three times more shock absorption than a standard shoe liner.

To extend the life of their shoes, customers can order an additional pair of shoe liners at no charge through www.gobegolf.com. GoBe Golf footwear is built on a European last with a deep heel cup to keep the foot in place and a wide toe area for a natural, comfortable fit.

The Rebel is available in two color combinations − black with taupe accents and brown with taupe accents. The Rebel will be sold only through high-end resorts, golf course pro shops, and online at www.gobegolf.com for a suggested retail of $159.

Orlimar Introduces Montego Putter

Milled Face Putter Features 360 Degree Alignment Aid

(Flushing, Mich.) — Orlimar has introduced the Montego putter, a new precision-crafted milled mallet putter with a unique 360 degree alignment aid, resulting in improved form, accuracy and results.

“The Montego will appeal to golfers of all ability levels,” said Nigel Matthews, product development manager. “The milled putter face provides a soft feel and visual cues not only to help the golfer align the putter head to the target but also to ensure proper positioning over the ball. Consumers who have tested the putter find the alignment technology easy to use and very effective.”

The golfer simply aligns the three dimensional array of circles to achieve proper stance and alignment. The circle closest to the face is a cutout with an inset alignment circle; the golfer centers the inset circle within the perimeter of the cutout circle to ensure proper stance over the putter; the circular design ensures 360 degree alignment. The two split white circles provide both linear and spherical visual cues for proper putter alignment with the ball.

The Montego putter is a face-balanced, heel-shafted mallet, constructed of 304 stainless steel and has a head weight of 345 grams. The CNC milled-face putter provides a soft feel off the putter head and a more accurate roll. The perimeter-weighted Montego putter is available in 35 inches with a loft of 3 degrees and lie of 72 degrees.

The suggested retail for Montego is $149.99 and comes in right-handed only. The Montego putter is available Oct. 1.

Tef Tee Introduces New 1.5" Tee for 2013

The revolutionary TEFLON coated TEF TEE from Tee Direct will be available in a 1.5" length for hybrid drives and par 3s starting in the spring of 2013. The new length will retail for $3.99 for a foil bag of 8 tees and merchandises in both the Retail and Green Grass Programs.

"Tour pros have been telling us from the start that they love our Teflon Technology on par 3s because of the added accuracy they get as a result of our reduced off center dispersion," said Greg MacKeen, President of Tee Direct Inc. "They also like the way the extra few yards distance helps fill the gap when they are in between clubs."

By virtually eliminating all frictional forces between the tee and the ball, TEF TEE golf tees allow the club to transfer energy more efficiently to the ball, and let the ball release easier. This reduces backspin and sidespin, resulting in longer, straighter tee shots.

Robotic tests at the industry's acclaimed Golf Laboratories, Inc. in Carlsbad, CA proved TEF TEE performance tees had 19% less off center dispersion and 6.5 yards more distance than wood tees.

The highly distinctive new white tees with the back head are showing up all over the leader-boards of tour events around the world, as more and more touring pros convert from wood tees. This renewed interest and credibility for performance tees is helping drive growth in the category.

When it comes to reducing friction and increasing driving distance, TEF TEE is surpassed by no one and recognized as the world leader in tee technology. Only TEF TEE delivers Greater Performance three ways:
1. Greater Distance & Accuracy thanks to our patent pending Teflon technology which results in the lowest friction between the tee and the ball, allowing more efficient transfer of energy from the club to the ball, as the ball releases from the tee surface with less backspin.
2. Greater Playability because the six prongs make it easier to balance the ball and the rigid shank inserts easily into even the hardest ground.
3. Greater Value because a single tee often last 5-6 rounds, or 15-20 times as long as wood tees, which also helps keep the courses litter free.

Cobra Launches AMP Cell Drivers

One Driver - Six Settings - Four Fresh Colors

(CARLSBAD, CA) - COBRA Golf is bringing something juicy (again!) with the launch of the AMP CELL and AMP CELL Pro Drivers. Unlike any other driver available in the market, the AMP CELL and AMP CELL Pro Drivers feature COBRA's new breakthrough MyFly technology, allowing golfers to select from six different loft/trajectory settings (in one club) for optimized performance and distance based on a golfers' swing or weather and course conditions.

In addition to MyFly technology, COBRA is reaffirming its status as the first club manufacturer to offer a choice in color by creating the AMP CELL Driver in four fresh colors - Silver, Directoire Blue, Barbados Red and Vibrant Orange.

"The AMP CELL Driver offers golfers the adjustability, innovation, customization and choice they want but have not been able to get - until now," said Bob Philion, President. "We are taking adjustability to another level with our MyFly technology, offering 6 different loft/trajectory settings golfers can change to adapt to their swing or playing conditions. The technology combined with the color choice reaffirms COBRA's positioning as a performance driven brand infusing more joy into the game."

MyFly Technology offers a simple solution for golfers to optimize trajectory and distance. The AMP CELL Driver can be adjusted to the following lofts with a simple wrench; 8.5°, 9.5°, 9.5° Draw, 10.5°, 10.5° Draw and 11.5°; and the AMP CELL Pro can be adjusted to 7.5°, 8.5°, 8.5° Fade, 9.5°, 9.5° Fade and 10.5°. Golfers can now customize their club based on swing speed (higher lofts for slower swing speeds and lower lofts for faster swing speeds), weather (lower lofts to bring ball flight down on windy days) and course conditions (higher lofts for more carry).

The AMP CELL and AMP CELL Pro take adjustability a step further with SmartPad technology. Unlike other drivers that require a golfer to adjust the sole plate after adjusting loft for a square face, COBRA's proprietary SmartPad technology delivers a square face at address regardless of loft setting and still allows for workability to slightly open or close the face as desired.

COBRA's E9 Face TechnologyTM with dual roll is used in the AMP CELL and AMP CELL Pro Drivers for an elliptical face shape with a canted bulge and roll that improves distance and accuracy on mis-hits from heel to toe and above and below the centerline.

Advanced Material PlacementTM and Cell technology work together to enable a 12% larger elliptical E9 Face shape to deliver faster ball speeds and high MOI (moment of inertia) on mis-hits. The Cell technology saves and redistributes weight in a granular way and is visible on the drivers in the Cell band which wraps around to the crown. This wrap also visibly shows a golfer where the weight is distributed, with the AMP CELL Driver having a CG optimized for low-mid handicap players, the AMP CELL Pro using a lower, more neutral CG position for better players and the AMP CELL Offset have a heel-biased CG for slice correction.

Taking choice and customization one step further, COBRA is offering the AMP CELL Driver in four fresh colors; Directoire Blue, Silver, Vibrant Orange and Barbados Red. The AMP CELL Pro is offered in Vibrant Orange and Silver. The sole of the club features a curved Cell band in the featured color and the crown of the club is the solid featured color. In the AMP CELL, the white Fujikura Fuel shaft features an edgy paint splatter graphic.

The AMP CELL Driver is also available in an offset model designed to help tame a slice. The offset design offers the golfer more time to square the face at impact and provides more heel-biased weighting to help hit straighter drives. The AMP CELL Offset Driver features an MRC COBRA AMP Shaft and a Lamkin COBRA REL grip. The Offset model is Revolver Grey with hints of Barbados Red.

The COBRA AMP CELL Driver (MAP $299) is available in both right and left handed models with My Fly technology which allows any driver you purchase to be adjusted from 8.5° to 11.5° loft settings, including 9.5° and 10.5° draw settings. It is available in Stiff, Regular and Lite flexes and features a Fujikura Fuel shaft (60g S and R, 55g L and 45.75" length) and has a 460cc head.

The COBRA AMP CELL Pro Driver (MAP $399) is available in both right and left handed models with My Fly technology which allows any driver you purchase to be adjusted from 7.5° to 10.5° loft settings, including 8.5° and 9.5° fade settings. It features a MRC Kurokage shaft (65g and 45.25" length) and has a 440cc head.

The AMP CELL Offset Driver (MAP $249) is available in 10.5° in Stiff, Regular or Lite flexes for both right hand and left hand models. It is also available in a right hand 11.5° model in either Regular or Lite flexes.

The AMP CELL, AMP CELL Pro and AMP CELL Offset Drivers will be available at retail on February 8th, 2013. To find an authorized COBRA dealer near you, visit http://cobragolf.com/dealer-locator

The AMP CELL Driver is not alone in color or technology. AMP CELL Fairways and Hybrids also feature MyFly technology and are available in the same four colors while the AMP CELL Irons are a clean silver with hints of color. Learn more about the AMP CELL Family of products at cobragolf.com.

Paul Lawrie Commits His Future to Wilson Staff

European Tour star resigns with Wilson Staff on the eve of his second Ryder Cup appearance

(CHICAGO) – European Tour star Paul Lawrie recommitted himself to a multi-year deal with Wilson Golf on the brink of representing Europe’s Ryder Cup team for a second time. He will continue to carry Wilson Staff irons in the Pro Tour bag, sport the branded cap and promote the brand in tournament play on a global basis.

“Wilson Staff clubs have been central to me playing the best golf of my career and so I’m delighted to be able to commit to the brand once again,” commented Lawrie, who won the 1999 Open Championship with Wilson Staff irons but thereafter made an equipment switch. Upon returning to Wilson Staff irons and wedges three years ago, the Scotsman championed three European Tour tournaments: “Wilson Golf has won more Majors than any other brand and I would love to add another Major title to the list using my FG Tour irons – by far the best set of irons in terms of feel and performance that I’ve played.”

This comes at a culminating time as Wilson Staff will greet the Advisory Member as he competes this week in the Ryder Cup in Medinah, just fifteen miles from Wilson Golf’s global headquarters. Lawrie’s recent domination on the international golf scene, with a current 28th Official World Golf Ranking and two European Tour victories this year for a career total of eight, secured his placement on the 2012 European team. Lawrie debuted at the Ryder Cup in 1999, and finished the week with an impressive 3-1-1 record.

As a global golf manufacturer approaching its 100th anniversary, Wilson Golf reflects upon the role it has played not only in Major tournaments but also in the historically-rich Ryder Cup.

“The Staff brand has supported various Americans and Europeans battling for the Ryder Cup since the tournament initiated in 1926,” said Tim Clarke, General Manager of Wilson Golf. “We feel especially linked to this upcoming event because the venue is in our own backyard.”

Both Wilson Golf corporate headquarters and its recently-renovated R&D facility are located in Chicago. It contains an archive of custom-fitting files dating back to its inception in 1914, including Ryder Cup contenders from Sam Snead to Padraig Harrington.

“Wilson Staff is rooted in a strong history of success, and our current Tour support indicates more successes to come,” said Clarke. “By committing his immediate future to Wilson Staff, Lawrie’s expressing his faith in our ability to provide the best-performing clubs; it will be exciting for us to welcome him to our home soil and witness his hot streak first hand.”

Patriot Golf Day 2012 Continues Santee Success

(SANTEE, S.C.) – Lake Marion Golf Course raised more than $15,000 hosting its fourth-annual Patriot Golf Day Tournament in conjunction with the PGA of America, the club announced. Proceeds from the tournament are contributed to the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides post-secondary educational scholarships to the spouses and children of service members disabled or killed as a result of their military service.

Lake Marion’s participation with Patriot Golf Day started in 2007 with a small container on the pro shop counter for golfers to donate at least $1 and has evolved into a very successful event spanning two days. After collecting a mere $19 the first year, the club decided it wanted to do more to help the Folds of Honor Foundation. The first tournament was organized in just three weeks in 2009 and raised $3,200. In 2010, the tournament raised $11,500 and nearly $14,000 last year.

In 2012, interest increased so dramatically —350 players participated during the Labor Day weekend — that the club had to host three separate shotgun tournaments, which also included VFW opening ceremonies to the flag, prizes, silent auction and cookout for all shotguns and a raffle with over $3,000 in products given away.

The end result was a donation of nearly $15,000 to the Foundation thanks to nearly 100 businesses and groups providing sponsorships and product donations, and more than 30 volunteers from VFW, Kiwanis Club and other local businesses.

Sparked by the vision and dedication of Major Dan Rooney, former F-16 fighter pilot, PGA Golf Professional and USGA member, Patriot Golf Day has spurred golfers nationwide to contribute more than $12.8 million during the past five years for scholarships awarded to spouses and children of our military men and women killed or disabled while serving. Patriot Golf Day raised a record $3.9 million in 2011.

Captain Rooney felt that a small sacrifice has the potential to make a huge difference in the lives of surviving family members of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. To Rooney, golf was the natural choice to achieve such a lofty goal on a national scale — and he has proven prophetic. No other sport enjoys such participation on a daily basis as golf —sheer numbers that make possible raising substantial amounts of money.

“Captain Davis Love III has been a long time user of the Caddy Towel and wanted to ensure that each player on the American side could reap its benefits at Medinah,” says company founder Jeff Herold. “Tour players worldwide trust this exceptional product to keep their clubs clean and hands gripping properly when tournaments are on the line.”

Featuring more than 5 million yards of microfiber strands, each towel can hold 300 percent its weight in water. Easily recognizable on televised PGA Tour broadcasts due to its waffle texture and contrasting stitched trim, the pro-sized Caddy Towel is available in a tandem package with a Pocket Towel that comes as a gift with purchase. A $10 value, the Pocket Towel measures 8 by 12 inches and is perfectly unobtrusive in a back pocket. Club Glove also offers a customizable 16 by 24 inch Cart Towel, available for corporate sales.

Golf’s original and best microfiber towel was introduced in 2006 and rapidly gained a loyal following among players who favored its ultra-lightweight, super absorbent and virtually lint free design. The Caddy Towel is vastly preferred over all competitors by thousands of the finest public and private facilities nationwide, including Sports Authority, Golf Galaxy, Golfsmith, PGA Tour Superstores, Edwin Watts, Academy Sports and Worldwide Golf.

This marks the eighth time Club Glove has in some capacity outfitted the U.S. Ryder Cup team. The company – whose travel gear is used by more than 90 percent of PGA Tour players, according to Darrell Survey – created custom, personalized versions of its bags for each recipient.

Honored by Golf World magazine as one of the game’s “10 Best Innovations,” the Last Bag is the No. 1 golf travel bag brand at all PGA and Champions Tour events. It is perfectly complemented by the Stiff Arm Device, a fully adjustable, three-piece telescoping crutch that is slightly longer than the longest club in the bag, protecting clubs and shafts while nearly eliminating all risk of breakage.

Crafted to ensure trip preparation is a stress-free process, the TRS Ballistic Check-in XL features five packing modules for easy, wrinkle free clothing and accessories organization. With its unique rigid, yet soft-sided design, the luggage carries dimensions never before seen in the industry. Extremely functional and durable, all pieces in the collection are U.S. woven with military-spec INVISTA CORDURA 1050 denier Ballistic Nylon fabric for unmatched abrasion and tear resistance. Available in all black or a fashionable two-tone black and bronze color scheme, the line consists of Backpack ($349), Shoulder Bag ($349), Carry-on ($699), Check-in ($750) and Check-in XL ($799) bags.

When used as a set, travelers can take advantage of Club Glove’s renowned, patent-pending Train Reaction system. This allows users to quickly and easily connect bags and drastically reduces the amount of effort needed to pull or push gear by creating a perfect center of gravity and weightless feel.

Company's Innovative Traction Technology Continues to Dominate Professional Golf

(MARLBOROUGH, MA) – CHAMP/MacNeill Engineering Worldwide – The World Leader in Sport Cleat Technology and maker of innovative CHAMP spikes, high-performance golf tees and accessories – confirms its popular Zarma spikes were used by the 2012 FedExCup champion en route to his win at the TOUR Championship, according to Darrell Survey.

Securing his fourth career PGA Tour title and second of the season, the winner trusted the Zarma  model’s unique Lotus technology, which softens the impact of walking by reducing spike pressure to create a more comfortable experience. Snedeker's Double Dip

Tour Championship Win Delivers Golf's Premier Prize - The FedEx Cup

(Covington, Ga.) — Continuing the best season of his professional golf career, Brandt Snedeker doubled-up with the TOUR B330 golf ball to command a three-shot victory at the 2012 TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola on Sunday and capture the coveted FedEx Cup.

Snedeker negotiated the storied East Lake Golf Club in metro Atlanta in 10-under par, recording rounds of 68-70-64-68. With the win, the biggest of his career, Snedeker also captured the 2012 FedEx Cup and the $10 million bonus that comes with it.  Snedeker’s TOUR Championship win marks the fourth PGA TOUR title of his career. Together, the wins delivered $11.44 million for the week and a season total of $14,989,739.

In his victory, Snedeker relied on Bridgestone’s TOUR B330 golf ball, J40 Cavity Back Irons and J40 Black Oxide Wedges.

Brandt’s Bridgestone Arsenal
* 2012 TOUR B330 Golf Ball
* J40 Cavity Back Irons (4-PW)
* J40 Satin Chrome Wedges (52 and 56 degrees)

Snedeker finished the week ranked #1 in Birdies (20), #1 in Stroked-Gained-Putting (1.676), #2 in Driving Accuracy (66%), #2 in Putts Per Round (27.5) and T7 in Greens-In-Regulation (69.4%). After an early final round double bogey, Snedeker relied on the increased consistency and spin performance of the TOUR B330 and the precision shot-making of the J40 Cavity Back irons to bounce back and card four birdies down the stretch.

“The new dual dimples on the cover of the B330 ball allows it to perform great in the wind,” said Snedeker. “Even in the blustery conditions at East Lake, I had confidence in firing at pins coming down the stretch, because the ball holds its line so well.”

“Brandt has turned in one incredible year, and we’re just glad that we could play a small part in it,” said Dan Murphy, Vice President of Marketing – Bridgestone Golf, Inc. “To have our first FedEx Cup Champion is amazing and for him to seal-the-deal here, in Bridgestone’s hometown of Atlanta, just makes it even more special.”

Snedeker’s victory at the TOUR Championship combined with FedEx Cup award gives him a total earnings windfall of $11,144,000, vaulting him into first place on the 2012 PGA TOUR Money List and into the Top 10 in the Official World Golf Rankings for the first time in his career.

Brandt Snedeker’s impressive performance at East Lake this weekend makes for a fitting exclamation point on the Bridgestone Golf Tour Team’s 2012 season to remember.  The 2012 season featured victories on all four major professional golf tours (PGA TOUR, CHAMPIONS, Web.Com, and LPGA), and now Bridgestone Golf players currently hold three of the most prestigious titles in golf (2012 PLAYERS Championship, 2012 TOUR Championship and 2012 FedEx Cup Champ.)  In addition, this week, Bridgestone Tour team members, Davis Love III, Fred Couples, Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker will all play a part in the United States team’s effort to to regain the Ryder Cup.  Below is a rewind of the Bridgestone Tour team’s most memorable moments from the 2012 season.

Harbour Town's 18th One Of Golf Magazine's 'Best 18 Holes'

(HILTON HEAD, S.C.) - The famed 18th hole on Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Resort is one of GOLF Magazine's "Best 18 Holes," showcased at Golf.com, the magazine's online portal.

The scenic, par-4 closer on the iconic Pete Dye design joins the world's most acclaimed holes including the dramatic cliff-to-cliff par-3 16th of Cypress Point, No. 17 on the Old Course at St. Andrews with its notorious "Road Hole Bunker," the splendid 18th of Pebble Beach Golf Links along Carmel Bay, and classic No. 9 of Royal County Down in Northern Ireland.

With the eminent red- and white-striped lighthouse standing sentinel behind the green and mesmerizing Calibogue Sound flanking the entire left side, the 472-yard two-shotter caps a layout famed golf writer Dan Jenkins once said is "nothing short of a work of art." Golfweek's Brad Klein says, "It's one of the most innovative and revolutionary designs in the history of golf architecture."

"For more than 40 years, the best players in the game have had to negotiate the perils of Harbour Town's 18th to hoist the winner's trophy of the PGA TOUR's RBC Heritage," says Cary Corbitt, director of sports division. "We're honored to be included among game's greatest holes and encourage golfers to visit Sea Pines to have a go at No. 18 and the entire Pete Dye masterpiece."

Saturday is Moving Day on the PGA Tour

Will Tiger Contend over the weekend?
Saturday is often referred to as "Moving Day" on the PGA Tour. Basically, players who made the cut position themselves for a final run at the title.

It wasn't long ago that you'd see Tiger Woods make his move - rising to the top of the leaderboard for what seemed like a Tour de France ceremonial final day. After all, if Tiger was in the lead, he wasn't going to falter and nobody would dream of overtaking the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of all Time).

I won't rehash the personal turmoil, but it is very evident that there's quite a bit of professional turmoil with which to deal. Hard to believe someone who has won three times on Tour this year - and not against "pushover fields," either - would be scrutinized for weekend play, but look no further than the Majors, which Tiger covets the most, to see how he's faltered. He has put himself in position to win, but stumbled over the weekend to finish back in the pack.

We may be a bit premature in penning this column as Tiger has yet to reach the back nine in Round 2. Heck, he may wait until Sunday to implode - rendering "Moving Day" irrelevant. Let's just assume Tiger remains on the first page of the leaderboard through today's play. I know American Golfer - and millions of other fans - will be glued to the TV tomorrow. And college football will have some stiff competition. If Tiger passes this test, the NFL will have its hands full Sunday, too.

Is it too much to ask for Tiger and Rory McElroy to be paired in Sunday's final twosome? Probably, but our fingers are crossed. If Tiger is in contention, the sport of golf will take center stage.

Have an opinion or prediction, e-mail American Golfer.

Sun Mountain ClubGlider Wins Hot List Gold

(Missoula, Montana) – Sun Mountain is proud to announce that its ClubGlider Meridian golf travel bag was awarded Hot List Gold by the editors of Golf Digest magazine. The next evolution in golf travel bags, ClubGlider is the only golf travel bag that offers extendable legs and wheels to support 100% of the weight, while eliminating the repeated bending and lifting required with traditional travel bags.

ClubGlider is available in three different models – Pro, Meridian, and the Journey – offering protection for golfers ranging from weekend warriors to touring professionals. This story from the September issue of Golf Digest magazine is on newsstands now. All three models of ClubGlider are in golf shops with retail prices of $319, $299, and $209, respectively. For the retailer nearest you call 800-227-9224 or visit www.sunmountain.com.

ClubGlider literally glides from parking lot to luggage counter and back again with retractable legs that easily extend and then tuck away securely for travel. And, thanks to the maneuverability of ClubGlider’s pivoting wheels, walking around is effortless. ClubGlider offers all or more of the protection and storage space of a traditional golf travel bag while eliminating the heavy lifting and constant bending normally required to get through the airport.

New for 2012, the ClubGlider Journey offers the same benefits as the other ClubGlider models and is smaller and lighter thanks to a more tapered design. While being more compact, ClubGlider Journey still offers ample space for golf bag, golf clubs, and golf shoes. ClubGlider Journey is constructed from 1200 denier fabric as compared to the ballistic-type nylon used on the Meridian and Pro models. And new for 2013, Journey is available in a wide assortment of colors and patterns.

Making the cut from over 1,000 entrants in the Golf Channel “Fore Inventors Only” reality show, ClubGlider was named one of five finalists in this search for the next great golf invention. Following a successful introduction, Sun Mountain increased the offering to include additional models. ClubGlider Meridian is the new name for the original ClubGlider. ClubGlider Pro is the largest of the three models made to accommodate tour players oversized staff bags or two lightweight carry bags. ClubGlider Journey is a smaller and lighter version.

Benefits of ClubGlider include legs that support 100% of the weight, eliminating on average over 22 pounds of pressure from the golfer’s shoulders and back. ClubGlider can also be loaded while standing, eliminating the need to bend all the way over as with other travel bags. Additionally, with the ClubGlider, the repeated bending and lifting while waiting in line is a thing of the past. Plus, ClubGlider can support additional luggage, freeing the traveler’s hands. ClubGlider is simple, fast and easy to use with retractable legs and wheels that lock securely for travel. ClubGlider includes heavy-duty two-way zippers, thick foam padding extending down the travel bag to protect clubheads and shafts, internal storage pockets, internal cinch straps, ballistic fabric, vinyl-reinforced wear areas, and a lift-assist handle.

SANTEE, SC: From Cotton Fields to Fairways

For 20 years, tiny Santee, S.C., has slowly but surely carved a niche as one of America’s best golf destinations for the money.

(SANTEE, S.C.) — There are pros and cons to being known as “America’s Value Golf Destination.” Santee, S.C., (population 800) is located on the south shore of picturesque Lake Marion just off Interstate 95. Long before the interstate rolled through town, however, Santee had been considered a pit stop for northerners heading further south.

Today, Santee has forged a reputation as a must-stop for golfers.

For starters, Santee is not hard to find. “Get on I-95 and turn left, it’s a straight shot,” laughs Bill Clark, whose family has spearheaded Santee development since the mid-1900s.

In one exit, golfers find themselves less than five minutes from three lakeside golf courses, with an additional 14 layouts within a half-hour drive. And while the Santee price tag may appear no frills, those hoping to enjoy scenic, unhurried golf, good food and clean accommodations — without spending lots of money nor time in the car — will have it made.

Santee offers quality, value and convenience, which is why more than 50,000 golfers arrive from northern destinations each year. For as little as $55 (low season), they get a nice room, a round of golf with a cart on one of the area’s 17 courses — and for good measure a tasty, home-cooked breakfast to kick-start their day.

The con? Prospective visitors planning their golf getaway often look at Santee’s blue-collar rates and question the quality of golf. The pros? In Santee, you get good, quality golf on well-maintained and over-seeded courses. And golfers feel more appreciated, their trips are not as expensive and they tend to return year after year.

In fact, that is what makes Santee different than most golf destinations. The cast of characters who have meticulously and lovingly nurtured this sleepy little lakeside outpost in the South Carolina Lowcountry have always preferred having a host of happy golfers to Top 100 rankings and empty fairways.

Which is why, when the bottom began to fall out of the economy — as opposed to the Palmetto State’s more popular and luxurious resort destinations such as Charleston, Hilton Head or Myrtle Beach — Santee not only survived, but also thrived.

First, the golf: Seventeen courses within one hour of one another. The three courses located in town, less than a mile apart, Santee National, Santee Cooper Country Club and Lake Marion, offer wide fairways, challenging greens, water hazards and impeccable maintenance, and have all been upgraded through the years. “Country-club good looks and municipal-course pricing,” gushed a recent Canadian publication.

Five of the courses are a little more than a 4 iron away on the north side of Lake Marion, (20 minutes), the must-plays headed by the Tom Jackson-designed Wyboo Golf Club near Manning, S.C., and the Players Course at Wyboo Plantation. If those weren’t enough, with I-26 just a few more miles down the road, golfers can make a short day trip to Charleston and play the likes of The Links at Stono Ferry, Legend Oaks, Westcott Plantation and Charleston National to name a few.

Of course, golfers need fuel for their engines between rounds of golf, and Santee offers a unique collection of dining and nightlife options that add plenty of small-town character. There is Clark’s Inn and Restaurant, with its gingerbread appearance, and fried chicken and cobbler specialties, while Lone Star is more of a buffet-style eatery. The Jack Daniels steak at Coasters will rival most cuts of meat along the east coast, while the fish and prime rib at Captain Kirk’s are equally tasty.

And when it’s time to rest one’s head and dream of the next day’s round, Santee offers up approximately 1,200 hotel, motel and spacious villa style accommodations.

IJP Design Launches Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection

Classic Golf Styles, Sophisticated Designs, Stunning Fabrics, Sharp Tailoring

(Riviera Beach, FL.) - British label IJP Design has announced the launch of its Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection, the label's 11th collection. Offering stylish golf apparel, from classic tartans in subdued and vibrant hues to sophisticated, form-fitting European styling combining the highest standards of comfort and technical functionality, this is IJP Design‟s most advanced collection to date.

The Autumn/Winter collection features classic golf styles fused with sophisticated designs that incorporate stunning fabrics and sharp tailoring. These designs focus on traditional golfing values while using technically advanced features and fabrics, creating the highest levels of performance.

“We know we make clothes that look good and feel good. And more importantly, for those who want to play great, our Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection has technical and functional elements designed expressly for golfers and their distinctive movements,” said Ian Poulter, European Ryder Cup team member and founder and inspiration behind IJP Design.

For each seasonal collection, four different coloured tartans are created, all of which are licensed under the Scottish Tartan Authority and unique to IJP Design. These tartans are the foundation on which the IJP collections are developed and the basis for which “IJP leads with the legs.”

The Autumn/Winter 2012 collection is the first to promote interchangeable colour palettes, enabling the IJP Design consumer to create their own unique outfits by using any combination of styles, reassuring they will look great on and off the course.

The Poulter Tartans offer a stylish and functional choice for any golfer with their straight leg shape, signature side splits, internal waistband fastening and bias cut trimmed pockets. The trousers are half lined in a super soft anti-static lining for comfort and are available in Cornflower Blue, Porcelain and Fuchsia.

The Diamond In The Rough sweater offers a new take on the traditional golfing Argyle outerwear. Fashioned from 100% merino wool, offering softness, durability and comfort, the sweater's distinctive patterning is available in Grey Cloud, Ink or Ox Blood.

Also made from 100% merino wool, the slim fit Roll With It roll neck, available in stylish Black Watch and featuring turn back cuffs, is a distinctive yet understated take on the classical roll neck sweater.

The IJP Design Tour polo shirt uses Scotchguard technology to wick away moisture and provide lasting softness and breathability. Combined with a slim fitting design, a long four buttoned placket and IJP Design branding, the Tour shirt offers a contemporary but functional take on the classic club tour shirt.

Available in the same three distinctive colors as the Diamond In The Rough sweater, and made from a lightweight, comfort stretch fabric, the Thunderbird shirt offers a unique colour-blocked design guaranteed to catch anyone's eye on the course.

The classic golf chino is given a new twist by IJP Design's Performance Slacks. Incorporating a comfortable straight leg fit and IJP Design branding throughout, the trousers are made from a lightweight, water repellent, stretch fabric, ensuring that traditional style is fused with cutting-edge performance, comfort and technical features.

IJP Design has also included in its Autumn/Winter collection a range of items specially designed for the seasonal conditions. The F-1's bonded fleece fabric (available in Pillar Box Red, Jet Black, Midnight Blue and Onyx) is both water repellent and windproof, and comes with a shaped collar to protect one against the elements.

The lightweight Aqua-Tech trousers feature an elasticized waistband, velcro adjusters and full length side zips, allowing the wearer to suit-up without removing their golf shoes. Aqua-Tech shields against harsh conditions and are fully waterproof.

IJP Design's Bionic Base long-sleeved base layer, available in black or white with colored body mapped seam features, ensures comfort and warmth.
