Fashion Delivers Supports Victims of Hurricane Sandy; Urges Golf Industry to Get Involved

(New York, NY) - In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, a group of NYC Apparel Executives formed an organization named Fashion Delivers in an effort to facilitate the delivery of new apparel that companies had available to donate to victims. The Red Cross would only take cash, and they had clothing, home goods, and shoes to give away.

Fashion Delivers has blossomed into the Fashion Industry's leading provider of not-for-profit adult product distribution and is a fully accredited 501(C) 3 charity. In 2011 the organization distributed over $25 million of new product. The plan for 2012 was to eclipse $30 million, but now they are in a situation to ramp up quickly to help the victims of Sandy here in the Northeast. The needs are huge and they are ready to deliver.

Fashion Delivers is mobilizing with their local partner agencies in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut to determine their most pressing needs as they assist adults and families affected by Hurricane Sandy. They are currently looking for donations of basic items including t-shirts, socks, underwear, pants, sweaters and coats. They are also looking for towels, blankets and personal care items. Any manufacturers and retailers that can donate excess home and apparel products can complete the online donation form (www.fashiondelivers.org/donation-form.php).

"Sandy has devastated our area, wiped out entire communities, taken the lives of scores of people, and left so many families in need. My own personal friends and families are affected and the very area I grew up in at the Jersey Shore will never be the same," said Michael J. Setola, President & CEO, Tharanco Lifestyles (Greg Norman Collection and Dunning Golf) and Vice Chairman, Fashion Delivers. "We are ready to accept your donations of new apparel or a check. Your closeouts, overruns, markdowns, excess, etc. can help many. Cash donations cover our freight costs to move the inventories. Donations may be tax deductible as well. Please come together as an industry and show your support for the Northeast. So many of your sister clubs already have and many golf industry suppliers have stepped up heroically."

If you have any questions, e-mail Carolyn@FashionDelivers.org or phone 646-786-2680. Fashion Delivers will arrange the logistics for all donations.

About Fashion Delivers
Fashion Delivers works with the adult apparel and home fashions industries collecting donations of new product to help individuals and families in need. We provide these donations to a network of hundreds of local nonprofit agencies that distribute items quickly and directly to those who need them most.

What began as an initial disaster relief effort by the fashion industry has turned into an incredible charitable endeavor to provide hope to those in need. On Sept. 15, 2005, 30 fashion industry leaders came together to help the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita; more than $4.5 million worth of product was collected and channeled directly to survivors suffering from the devastation. Fashion Delivers has distributed over $100 million worth of product since 2005. We bring hope and "heart" to those in need.

The members of our Board of Directors and our Leadership Board represent a wide range of professionals in the fashion community that are committed to helping people in need.
