Product Review: New Balance 574B Spikeless Golf Shoe

A couple years ago, the only times you heard the term “run” on a golf course had to do with bump-and-run shots or putts that ran past the hole. Actually many high school cross country teams use golf courses as their field of competition, so running isn’t a completely foreign concept to the golf industry.

Now, New Balance has melded the best of both worlds in their 574B spikeless - the comfort of a running shoe with the functionality of a golf shoe.

The mesh upper features no-sew Fantom Fit technology for ultralight support and fit, and an “Ndurance” rubber outsole for maximum durability. The midsole boasts “REVlite” - a foam compound that provides the same responsiveness and durability of foams 30 percent heavier. This provides an extremely lightweight feel without minimizing construction or sacrificing cushioning or stability.

The NBG 574B weighs only 9.6 oz. and is offered in white, grey/yellow and navy/orange with standard sizes of 8-12, 13, 14 and 15. If you’re familiar with New Balance, you won’t be surprised that the 574B is offered in several widths - D, 2E and 4E.

Do you prefer something with cleats? New Balance also has the 574 in a leather upper with a low-profile Champ ONE-Lok Zarma Tour cleat system.

Passionate runners have known about the excellence of New Balance for decades. Equally fanatical golfers can now experience the same comfort
