PING G30 Driver No. 1 Three Months Straight

G30 is top-selling model in 2015

(PHOENIX) – In April, the busiest month of the year for driver sales, the PING G30 driver increased its industry-leading market shares in units (13.95%, up 6%) and dollars (18.56%, up 6%) in the on- and off-course retail channels, according to Golf Datatech, which tracks golf equipment sell-thru data for the United States.

Known for its Turbulator Technology and unmatched forgiveness, the G30 driver sold 56% more units in April than the next-closest model. It marked the third consecutive month the G30 driver was #1 in units and the second-straight month it ranked #1 in revenue share. For the months of January  through April combined, the G30 driver was #1 in units and dollars, with shares of 12.30% and 16.47%, respectively. Over the nine months since its introduction in July last year, it’s been the top-selling driver model in units (10.27%) and revenue (14.64%).

“To see momentum growing for the G30 driver in the heart of the golf season is very satisfying and a tribute to our engineering team,” said John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO. “When we launched it last summer, it was clear this driver was special. It was used by Angel Cabrera to win the first week it was on tour and it’s been finding its way into golfers’ bags ever since. It all comes down to performance and there’s no question the technology of the G30 drivers helps golfers hit the ball longer, straighter and more consistently.”

The G30 driver is offered in three options to custom-fit golfers. The standard G30 is offered in 9° and 10.5° lofts. The G30 SF Tec, which helps produce a right-to-left shot bend (for right-handed golfers), is available in 10° and 12° lofts. The G30 LS Tec is engineered to provide low, stable spin for added control and comes in lofts of 9° and 10.5°. All options are adjustable +-1° and feature Turbulator Technology, a T9S titanium face and a low/back center of gravity.

“The three options of the G30 driver ensure we can custom-fit any golfer,” added Solheim.  “Our fitting specialists around the country are reporting a nice mix of fitting results. Their ability to match the head technology with the proper shaft is allowing golfers of all skill levels to see significant distance gains while finding more fairways than ever.”

Season One of ‘Secret Golf with Steve Elkington’ captures six Telly Awards

Popular show featuring 1995 PGA Champion traveling the nation and telling viewers about the hidden stories in golf recognized with two Silver, four Bronze awards

(RELEASE) - “Secret Golf with Steve Elkington” not only captured the imagination of golfers everywhere with its innovative way of exploring the passion of golf, but the first season of the popular show captured six Telly Awards for production excellence, it was announced Wednesday.

The show, featuring major champion and Champions Tour mainstay Steve Elkington traveling the United States and Canada exploring the hidden stories in golf on all levels, made its second season debut on CBS Sports Network Saturday, May 9. It airs Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT through mid-August.

Last season’s shows under the title, “The Rural Golfer,” earned Silver Awards (the highest honor) in the Entertainment category for the episode featuring Elkington learning calf roping from World Champions Nick Sartain and Rich Skelton, and an episode on Texas golf history and the Pan American Golf Association filmed at the legendary Brackenridge Park Golf Course in San Antonio, the original home of the Texas Open.

The show earned Bronze Awards in the Sports category for its episode on the Freedom Golf Association, where Elkington worked with special needs golfers outside of Chicago; the roping show; an episode on Jacksonville’s Hyde Park Golf Course – where Ben Hogan once made an 11 on a par-3 during the Jacksonville Open -- and the penultimate episode: Elkington taking on Tactical Team Members at Angola’s Prison View Golf Course on the grounds of the maximum-security Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola.

“I am exceptionally proud of my production staff and of Steve for their unending commitment to putting out a show that everyone out there can relate to, whether they play golf or not,” Coleman said. “I was hoping we might win one, but to win six Telly Awards in our first year is just awesome.”

The Telly Awards reflect outstanding local, regional and cable TV programs and commercials. Winners represent the best work of respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators and corporate video departments. The organization received more than 12,000 entries from 50 countries.

A prestigious judging panel of more than 650 accomplished industry professionals, each a past Silver Telly recipient, and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other, rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10% of entries are honored with a Silver Telly, the highest honor. Other outstanding work is awarded a Bronze Telly.

“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “Secret Golf’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”

Nike Extends Storied Uniform Design to the Golf Course

College athletes will wear special-edition uniforms on the first and last days of the NCAA tournament

(RELEASE) - Nike Golf unveiled its newly designed custom uniforms for several of the top golf programs in the country that will compete in the Men’s Golf Championships beginning May 29 at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. The players will sport the new uniforms on the first and last days of the competition.

Designers at Nike Golf spent time with representatives from each school to identify the team’s favorite logos then used them to create the new uniforms.

As part of the customization process, each player selected his own number to be displayed on his uniform, a practice not formerly adopted by golf teams. The number blocking system borrows from each school’s football team uniforms. The polo shirts also include the teams’ respective conference logos.

“Our team is so excited about actually having a jersey,” said University of Washington head coach Matt Thurmond. “They loved picking their number and it was fun to reveal them to the team. We are athletes. Athletes have jerseys. Maybe in a couple years the kids back home will be buying the jerseys of our top players and wearing them when they play, wanting to be like them. Hopefully this is the start of every high school and college golfer feeling like an athlete on a real team, as they should. I love that Nike is out front on this.”

Teams from the West Coast, including the University of Oregon, Stanford University, the University of Southern California and the University of Washington, feature specially designed uniforms based on the Nike Afterburner Polo with a fade pattern in team colors.

Designs for Vanderbilt University and the University of Oklahoma use the Nike Commander Polo. Each shirt features the school’s secondary color on the sleeves.

The University of Georgia and Duke University will wear the Nike Major Moment Polo, the same polo worn by Rory McIlroy at The Masters, in their school colors.

Each team will also be outfitted in a custom Tour Mesh Hat featuring the logo and Nike True Tour Cap with the team’s mascot.

Five of the top women’s teams who competed in the Championships May 22-27 also wore similarly designed polos for their championship tournament.  The winning school, Stanford University, sported these new looks enroute to their championship victory.

These uniforms are not available for purchase and are specially designed for the Championship players.

Annika Sörenstam Visits Estonian Golf & Country Club to Oversee Plans for Her First Design in Europe

Annika Sorenstam and Hanno Kross
(Estonian Golf & Country Club, Tallinn) - Annika Sörenstam, widely regarded as the greatest female golfer of all time, visited Estonian Golf & Country Club, Tallinn, today as plans for her first course design in Europe take shape.

The 10-time major champion, who amassed an unprecedented 89 tournament victories in a 15-year career, is designing a new course to complement the venue’s existing Sea Course, rated among Europe’s Top 100 Courses*.

Construction of the new course at Estonian Golf & Country Club, a member of the European Tour Properties network of world class golf venues, is part of a major development to create a family leisure resort and spa, including a 150-room hotel, overlooking the Gulf of Finland.

Annika is working closely with European Golf Design (EGD), the golf course design company of the European Tour and IMG, with groundwork scheduled to start in 2016.

Annika said: “This is a naturally beautiful landscape, reminiscent of where I grew up, and it’s a privilege to be asked to design a golf course here.

“My approach to course design is to capture the natural character of the landscape, blending golf holes into the surrounding environment. My goal is to create a versatile course that can be enjoyed by players of any age and skill level, using a variety of tees, landing areas and approaches. Ultimately, I want it to be both a strategic challenge and a memorable experience, whether you are an elite player competing in a tournament, or a young golfer enjoying a family holiday.”

Annika added: “Estonian Golf & Country Club’s plans for a leisure resort that is family friendly shows great vision and I’m excited to be part of a project that I believe will attract visitors from across the Nordic countries, Europe and beyond.”

The new 18-hole course will replace the existing 9-hole Stone Course at Estonian Golf & Country Club, and will complement the championship Sea Course, which in 2011 hosted European qualifying for the Omega Mission Hills World Cup, the final of which was staged at the upscale Chinese resort which also boasts an ANNIKA designed course.

On high, flat land above a limestone escarpment that drops down to a pine forest and the Sea Course, the new ANNIKA layout will command outstanding views over the Rebala National Heritage Area, within which the GEO Certified country club is situated.

Using the long, native grasses and firm turf, the course will have a links-like look and feel. Tees will be spread out with the tournament course measuring 6,445m (7,050 yards), while fully constructed forward tees will create a genuine 4,000m (4,375 yards) course for juniors and new golfers.

Hanno Kross, Estonian Golf & Country Club Chief Executive, said: “I first met Annika in 2011 to discuss designing our second course and she immediately understood and empathized with our vision to further develop Estonian Golf & Country Club into an international leisure resort and spa.

“As well as being one of the most successful golfers of all time, she is family orientated and coaches young people, so brings a contemporary perspective to the needs of a modern resort and the type of golf course and facilities that are required.”

Estonian Golf & Country Club, just 20 minutes from the country’s exquisite capital city of Tallinn, will open its new ANNIKA Course, as well as the first 60 rooms of the new hotel, in 2019.

Hanno Kross added: “While many golfers regularly hop across on the ferry from Finland to play golf in Estonia, we hope the new ANNIKA Course will attract more golfers and families from Sweden, who can travel here easily via a 55-minute flight or on the daily ferry, as well as other European countries.

“This is an exciting new concept for golf tourism in northern Europe – where our long, sunny summer days are perfect for active, outdoor holidays – and we are extremely pleased Annika is on board and is contributing so much to the strategy behind this project.”

Annika’s visit to Estonian Golf & Country Club Chief coincides with the venue’s 10th anniversary. To mark the occasion, a special open tournament will take place on both the Stone and Sea Courses, together with a 10th birthday party.

International Golf Spotlight Shines on Atlantic City

ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer boasts impressive field playing the famed Seaview Bay Course

(ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.) —The unofficial start to the summer golf season begins this week near Atlantic City’s world-famous boardwalk — on the Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club’s renowned Bay Course — in what is popularly known around South Jersey as “A Shore Tradition,” the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer.

The May 29-31 LPGA event features 19 of the world’s Top 20 ranked players in the Rolex Rankings and reigning champions of all five LPGA majors (Michelle Wie, Brittany Lincicome and Inbee Park) — along with 94 out of the top 100 players on the LPGA’s money list.

Crowd favorites such as Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel and Natalie Gulbis, and past champions like Stacy Lewis and Cristie Kerr are among the 144 players who will compete at this year’s tournament. The field also features 21 players who have won a combined 52 major championships, as well as eight of the top 10 players on the all-time LPGA money list. That group is highlighted by three Hall of Famers and past champions of the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer – Juli Inkster, Se Ri Pak and Karrie Webb.

“On an annual basis we attract one of the best fields on the entire LPGA Tour,” said Tim Erensen, executive director of the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer. “We’re extremely excited to see commitments from the greatest golfers in the world and we look forward to hosting them in South Jersey.”

“Atlantic City Golf is gaining more and more positive notoriety and this week’s tournament certainly brings worldwide attention to a member course and our entire destination,” said Harry Bittner, President of the Greater Atlantic City Golf Association.

New Jersey’s entertainment capital offers golfers 18 world-class courses designed by the likes of Donald Ross, Tom Doak, Willie Park, Jr., William Flynn and Hurdzan & Fry among others. From Cape May National in the south to Eagle Ridge Golf Club in the north, the likeable layouts offer everything from traditional parkland style to true links land, highlighted by views of untouched wetlands, stately pine forests, wildlife preserves and working vineyards.

In addition, Atlantic City Golf includes plenty of historical significance. For starters, the term “birdie” originated at Atlantic City Country Club, which has played host to six USGA events. In addition, Stockton Seaview is the site of Sam Snead’s first PGA Championship title and started hosting the ShopRite LPGA Classic in 1986. Harry Vardon and Walter Hagen fine-tuned their games at Brigantine Golf Links before heading across the Atlantic to the play the Open Championship.

iStar Financial, Billy Casper Golf Extend Magnolia Green Golf Club Partnership

(VIENNA, VA) - Billy Casper Golf (BCG) and iStar Financial have extended their partnership for BCG to continue managing Magnolia Green Golf Club (formerly Westham Golf Club) in Moseley, VA just outside Richmond.

Directed by BCG since it opened as a nine-hole course in 2010, the daily-fee club set amid the nearly 2,000-acre, master-planned Magnolia Green community will soon unveil 18 holes, all crafted by Nicklaus Design in association with Tom Clark.

Complementing the par-72, 7,150-yard layout is a comprehensive practice facility with a triple-tier driving range, fairway bunkers, massive putting green and short game area scheduled to open soon.  Plans are to build a spectacular clubhouse ideal for social outings.

Among BGC successes are the doubling of annual members each of the past two years and "The Green Card" that, for $100 (or $55 for seniors over 55), rewards golfers with a free round, loyalty points and discounts on greens fees and pro shop merchandise the more they play.

The club's competitive "Winter Tournament Series" has drawn hundreds of local golfers while Women on Course events provide participants with golf and social networking activities.

"The sky is the limit for Magnolia Green Golf Club," says Tom Page, Vice President of iStar Financial, owner of Magnolia Green.  "BCG is key to Magnolia Green becoming Central Virginia's premier active lifestyle community."

"We treat everyone the way we want to be treated - with respect and integrity," says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of BCG.  "Led by General Manager Bobby Kidder, our team works hard to ensure every step of the guest journey is enjoyable and well worth repeat play."

With a Carolinas feel, the golf course is characterized by wide fairways, short rough and well-guarded, greens which ensure bark and benevolence for players of all abilities.  Among its memorable holes are the reverse Redan-style par-3 No. 3 enticing players to aim left and use the slope to guide tee shots onto the green.  The long par-4 No. 18 provides a dramatic finish as golfers face a nerve-wrecking, downhill approach to an undulated green.

Less than 25 miles southwest of the state capital, Magnolia Green Golf Club is the centerpiece of Magnolia Green, the region's best-selling community.   It features a wide selection of townhomes, single-family and custom-built residences from just under $200,000 to $1 million.  An array of parks and hiking trails, swimming pools, sports courts and playing fields create an all-inclusive lifestyle for active adults and families alike.

Pound Ridge Golf Club Beckons with Peak Conditions, Mature Layout, New Website and Clubhouse

New York's only Pete Dye Design Awaits Local, Traveling Golfers

(POUND RIDGE, N.Y.) - Golf season is underway at Pound Ridge Golf Club -- New York's only Pete Dye design and Westchester Countys premier public course -- and the course is in peak condition as summer approaches.

Ample rain, sunshine and cool nights have created ideal growing conditions for Pound Ridge's bentgrass tees, fairways and greens. Nike’s Vapor Speed Driver Built for Tiger Woods Now Available

Nike’s new Vapor Speed TW driver will be available for purchase

(RELEASE) - Nike’s new Vapor Speed driver designed and built to Tiger Woods’s specifications will be available for purchase for the first time in limited quantities.

“Stability has always been the most important thing to me when choosing a driver,” said Woods. “I like the pear shape. It is appealing to my eye and it also has a slightly lower MOI (Moment of Inertia) that allows me to shape shots easier.”

The Vapor Speed TW driver combines Nike’s FlyBeam-reinforced Covert Cavity Back design and a new Compression Channel all packaged in a smaller head shape. The Covert Cavity Back design spreads weight towards the heel and toe to stabilize the head at impact maximizing forgiveness. The redistribution of mass creates more stability, better launch conditions and faster ball speeds.

Woods’s own insights led Nike’s design team to re-design the Compression Channel, which increases the spring-like effect off the mid-to-low portion of the face to increase overall distance.

In addition to a smaller head, the 10.5-degree lofted driver features the Diamana Blue Board 73 shaft with a bonded hosel.

Woods put the driver in his bag for the first time at the Hero World Challenge in Dec. 2014.

The Vapor Speed TW driver will be available at nike.com June 1 and at select retailers June 15.

PXG 0311 Irons & Wedges Now Available At Cool Clubs Locations Worldwide

(Scottsdale, AZ) – Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG) has taken the first step toward launching its brand to consumers. The company announced that PXG 0311 irons and wedges are now available to demo and order at all Cool Clubs locations.

PXG clubs have been in play on the PGA TOUR since January 2015, but until now have not been available to consumers. Cool Clubs will be first retail partner to carry PXG 0311 irons, with other PXG Certified Retailers coming soon.

“PXG is committed to building the best golf equipment on the planet,” said the company’s founder Bob Parsons. “While the equipment will speak for itself, we want to make sure that every golfer is fit for his or her clubs by a professional. Cool Clubs’ commitment to fitting their customers with the very best golf equipment makes them an ideal first partner.”

“Cool Clubs is proud to offer PXG irons to our customers before they become generally available to the public,” said Cool Clubs CEO Mark Timms. “The patented technology behind PXG clubs makes them one of the most forgiving irons in the market today.”

Parsons Xtreme Golf uses patented technology and sophisticated manufacturing processes that integrate high-performance alloys and elastomers to produce its irons and wedges. The process begins with a forged open face body.  The internal cavity of the forging is then precision CNC milled and an ultra-thin, high-strength HT1770 maraging steel face is plasma welded to create a hollow core.  A thermoplastic elastomer is then injection molded into the core to provide structural stability.  High-density tungsten alloy screws – which create the irons’ signature look – are positioned around the edges to provide extreme perimeter weighting and maximum forgiveness.

PXG clubs are currently being played on the PGA TOUR by Ryan Moore and on the Champions Tour by Rocco Mediate.

"Putting PXG clubs in play has been a great decision," said four-time PGA TOUR champion Ryan Moore. "Their unique weighting system and proprietary club technology is beyond anything I've ever played - from a performance and aesthetic perspective. I've been able to achieve some great improvements in my numbers, and now that they're available to the public, I'm excited to see what they'll do for golf enthusiasts at every level."

Rory McIlroy Laces Up for Kids Impacted by Cancer at the Irish Open

World No. 1 will sport four unique pairs of Nike Lunar Control 3 golf shoes to raise awareness and funds

(RELEASE) - When golfer Rory McIlroy tees off at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open on May 28, he’s certain to turn heads, but not for the reasons one might expect.

During each round of the Irish Open, McIlroy will lace up a different pair of strikingly unique Nike Lunar Control 3 golf shoes, each designed by a child whose life has been impacted by cancer.

McIlroy, The Rory Foundation and Nike teamed up with the Cancer Fund for Children in Northern Ireland to raise funds and awareness through the kids’ designs. The four colorways that were selected were created by kids on NIKEiD during a weekend at the organization’s log cabin in Newcastle.

“I’m delighted that the young people associated with the Cancer Fund for Children got to design my shoes,” said McIlroy, whose Foundation was established to give kids support they may need through a variety of children’s charities. “The shoes are really unique with some crazy designs. The Irish Open is going to be a very special event for golf and my Foundation and I am excited to compete in them this week.”

Fifteen-year-old Chloe Hyndman’s design was one of the four chosen for McIlroy to wear at the Irish Open. “It was great fun designing them and a privilege to be a part of the whole process,” said Chloe. “I never thought I would have won — I’m delighted!”

These NIKEiD Lunar Control 3 designs can be purchased on NIKEiD.com. A portion of the proceeds benefit The Rory Foundation.
Round 1 – Designed by Sara Lockhart

One of the most colorful shoes of the bunch. Sara, 12, said she did her research before beginning her design.

For the opening round, McIlroy will wear Sara’s shoe design with a red toe box, purple lining, an orange midsole topline and volt green lacing — one of the most colorful shoes of the bunch. Sara, 12, said she did her research before beginning her design.

“I read online that Rory really likes different shades of green so I combined that with some of my favorite colors. I really love art and am so happy my design was chosen,” Sara said.

Sara, who also loves swimming and playing the piano, became involved with the Cancer Fund for Children when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.

“It was a very worrying time but the Cancer Fund for Children helped a lot,” Sara said. “I am very proud of Rory because he has done so well for himself and still helps young people such as me through his work with the organization."
Round 2 - Designed by Ryan Keenan

On Friday, McIlroy will wear a gray and green Lunar Control 3 designed by Ryan Keenan. Ryan selected the words, “Go Rory,” for the tongues of the shoes.

“I chose the colors because it is for the Irish Open and they are colors associated with Ireland,” Ryan said. “It will be amazing and really exciting to see Rory wearing shoes I have designed.”

The Cancer Fund for Children helped Ryan, 16, find solace after he discovered his mom had cancer.

“When my mom became diagnosed and was going though operations, I became very sad and worried,” Ryan said. “Attending time at the log cabin allowed me to just get away from it all for a weekend and be with people in a similar situation who knew what I was going through.”
Round 3 - Designed by Chloe Hyndman

To start the weekend, the World No. 1 will sport a blue and white colorway created by Chloe.

“My design is a combination of what I would wear and what I thought Rory would like,” Chloe said. “I picked black and white to make them look professional, but then added a print to keep them fun and recent. I also added blue to make them more colorful, and to ensure that all eyes will be on Rory on the course!”

As part of the NIKEiD process, Chloe included “Irish Open” on the tongue of the shoes. Chloe, 15, has been supported by the charity since she was 12 years old.

“I was 11 when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. It was a really difficult time and I really didn’t understand what was going on,” Chloe said. “Spending time away with the Cancer Fund for Children has made me realize I am not alone and that I will be alright in the end.”
Round 4 – Designed by Alex Kernaghan

On Sunday, McIlroy will wear a multi-colored version of the shoe created by Alex Kernaghan, 13. The design features yellow, green, white and blue for a unique colorway.

“It says ‘Be You’ on my Nike shoes because that’s all you ever should be - yourself. I also added in a bit of blue as it’s my dad’s favorite color and yellow to represent the charity,” Alex said.

The children were presented with their very own pair of Lunar Control 3 shoes complete with their designs, gifts from Nike and The Rory Foundation.

The Rory Foundation
When Rory McIlroy was growing up, his parents sacrificed everything to allow him to play the sport that he loves. Having that support from his family gave him the opportunity to chase his dreams. Knowing that every child is not so fortunate, the goal of The Rory Foundation is to support children’s charities big and small around the world that try to give kids a helping hand. While The Rory Foundation raises funds for children’s charities across the globe, one of its major beneficiaries is the Cancer Fund for Children located in Northern Ireland, just a few miles from Royal County Down, the site of the 2015 Irish Open.

Visit Mississippi State Park Golf Courses for Holiday Weekend Recreation

(JACKSON, Mississippi) – Enjoying outdoor activities during Memorial Day weekend is a time-honored spring custom, and visiting Mississippi parks complements this annual tradition with great golf, fishing, cabins, cookouts and more.

Among Mississippi’s 25 outdoor recreational areas are four state park golf courses with affordable rates – 18 holes for $50 or less, and even lower prices at 9-hole LeFleur’s Bluff.

Low-cost specials include:
· Quail Hollow Golf Course (18-hole weekend rates start at $37): Nestled within Percy Quin in McComb is Quail Hollow, an Arthur Hills-designed outdoor sanctuary set against towering loblolly pines and magnolia trees. Some players compare Quail Hollow to Augusta National thanks to the terrain and high-quality golf.  After-round options abound including lake fishing and boating, villas, RV stations and more.

· Dogwoods Golf Course (18-hole weekend rates start at $39): Calling Hugh White State Park home, Dogwoods is a Gary Roger Baird design and award-winning layout.  The course‘s signature hole – the par-5, ninth – is perched high above stunning Grenada Lake, and wide open fairways coupled with large greens make it a popular place to play.  Fishermen love the lake, reeling in catfish and drinking in the serene setting.

· Mallard Pointe Golf Course & Villas ($50 for 18 holes / holiday rates): Located an hour south of Memphis in Northern Mississippi, this Bob Cupp-designed course is at John W. Kyle State Park.  Home to rolling hills and clever greens surrounded by bodies of water, beautiful backdrops grace the park’s landscape, and players can enjoy villa accommodations steps away from the fairways.

· LeFleur’s Bluff Golf Course ($13 for 9 holes): Lying in state capital Jackson is 9-hole LeFleur’s Bluff, part of LeFleur’s Bluff State Park.  Both are named after Louis LeFleur, a French-Canadian explorer who established a trading post on the banks of the Pearl River in the late 1700s.  The course consists of rolling terrain, scenic holes and multiple teeing areas.

“Affordability and multiple amenities make our state parks popular with visitors seeking many types of outdoor enjoyment,” said Director of Visit Mississippi Malcolm White. “After spending time on the course, golfers and others can enjoy nature trails, water skiing, peaceful woodlands, camping and more.”

Nicklaus Award Winner Adam Svensson Goes 3-for-3 with Win at Milton Martin Honda Classic

Barry University National Champion wins first three starts as a professional on the SwingThought Tour

(Gainesville, Ga.) – It was back in February, just three short months ago, that 2014 Nicklaus Award Winner Adam Svensson decided to turn professional after winning his ninth collegiate tournament in 14 starts at Barry University.

“After winning my last two starts, my gut was telling me it was the right time to make the move and turn professional,” said Adam Svensson when he first turned professional. “I feel my game is ready to be pushed to the next level and I am excited to challenge and better myself against the best players in professional golf.”

Pushed? Challenge? After winning his 3rd straight SwingThought Tour event in as many starts, the 2-time National Champion is making it look easy against some of the best players in professional golf and the scary part is, he’s getting better. Svensson, out of Surrey, British Columbia, had to defeat fellow Canadian Lucas Kim in a playoff for his 1st win at Harbor Hills. He then won the Killearn Country Club Classic with five players finishing a shot back. Then, at last week’s Milton Martin Honda Classic, he ran away from the field, shooting a final day 67 to win by five strokes over his nearest competitor. And, if history is any indicator, we can expect big things from Svensson in the future as past winners in Gainesville include 2012 Player of the Year Brandon Brown and Web.com Tour members Travis Bertoni and Dan McCarthy.

While Svensson had a comfortable week, shooting 66-66-67-67 to lead the event from start to finish, it was Valdosta State alum and Web.com Tour member Brent Witcher who got closest to him. Witcher shot 69-67-68-67 to finish at 17 under par, alone in second five shots back. David Toms Award Winner and All-Nicklaus Team Member Justin Lower, out of Malone University, shot 68-67-68-69 matching Svensson and Witcher as the only players to score in the 60’s all four rounds, and finished at 16 under par in a tie for 3rd with Big Break Myrtle Beach Winner and Auburn alum Jimmy Brandt. Web.com Tour member and Alabama alum Nick Rousey, who has been on a tear since returning to the SwingThought Tour, had his second consecutive top-5 finish shooting 15 under par and finishing alone in fifth.

Svensson received $20,000 for the win while Witcher received $9,970 for runner-up. Brandt and Lower each received $7,370 for finishing tied for third. Rousey earned $5,770 for his fifth-place finish. Altogether the purse for the event was $140,000 with 61 players making the two day cut to play Saturday and Sunday.

The SwingThought Tour would like to thank Director of Golf Rodger Hogan, Head Superintendent Sheldon Foote, and the rest of the staff and volunteers at Chattahoochee Golf Course for putting on a first rate professional golf tournament and week in what has become a mainstay of the SwingThought Tour Pro Series.

The SwingThought Tour heads to Fayetteville, N.C. May 25 through 30 for the All-American Golf Championship to be held at the championship Gates Four Golf & Country Club. Big Break Palm Beaches runner-up Justin Martinson returns as defending champion of the four-day 72-hole event that features $140,000 Purse with $20,000 going to the winner. Tournament play begins Wednesday, May 27 and continues through to the Final Round Saturday, May 30 with a special sponsor’s pro-am tournament to be held Tuesday May 26th. The low 55 players & ties after 36-holes make the cut to play the final two rounds Friday and Saturday. Also special to this year’s event is the fact that two Web event exemptions will be on the line, an entry into this year’s Air Capital Classic in Wichita and the Digital Ally Open in Overland Park, to be determined by the 36-hole and 72-hole leaders of the event.

Magnolia Green’s New 18-Hole Golf Course Scheduled for June 2 Opening

Magnolia Green Golf Club Testament to iStar Residential’s Commitment to
Creating Richmond’s Leading Community

(MOSELEY, Va.) – Magnolia Green – central Virginia’s premier multi-generational, active-lifestyle residential community – announces the new 18-hole Magnolia Green Golf Club will open to the public on Friday, June 2.

First unveiled as a nine-hole Westham Golf Club in 2010, Magnolia Green Golf Club is a semi-private Nicklaus Design in association with Tom Clark. It has been masterfully expanded into a par-72, 7,150-yard layout under the watchful eye of iStar Residential, one of the U.S.’s leading developers of master-planned communities. iStar invested more than $3 million to build the new nine, making Magnolia Green only the second 18-hole course to open in Virginia since 2010.

The Billy Casper Golf-managed layout is enjoyable for players of all abilities and a cornerstone of Magnolia Green, Richmond’s best-selling residential development. To date, iStar has invested nearly $50 million in the community with a second residential phase and $10 million amenity package – which will include an aquatics center, golf clubhouse and tennis facility – scheduled to break ground in 2015.

“Magnolia Green has more of the look and feel of a course in the Carolinas, making it unique to the Richmond market,” says Bobby Kidder, General Manager of Magnolia Green Golf Club. “It’s a strategic, second-shot golf course with wide fairways, short rough and sloping greens.”

Nicklaus Senior Design Associate Chris Cochran oversaw design and construction of the new nine, expertly incorporating the area’s indigenous natural beauty with Bermuda grass fairways and bentgrass putting surfaces draped over undulating terrain. His team worked hard to meld the pre-existing nine with the new holes.

“We developed a fresh strategy for each hole while massaging what was already there,” he says. “We kept the course’s basic routing the same, but worked on design features like yardages to create more variety and excitement.”

Memorable tests include a reverse Redan-style par-3 third hole which invites players to aim left so the slope will help guide tee shots down to the green, and a long par-4 18th featuring an elevated green well-defended by a water hazard.

The course will also be open to members beginning June 2. Greens fees range from $40 - $60 on weekdays and $50 - $70 on weekends, and club memberships are available.

(HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.) — Just in time for National Bike Month, golfers playing Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort's trio of award-winning courses can now pedal from hole to hole versus taking a golf cart or hoofing it.

The first resort in the Carolinas and along the East Coast to offer the revolutionary new “Golf Bike,” Palmetto Dunes visitors can boost their calorie-burning quotient while teeing it up on some of the South's most beautiful and challenging courses — including one of Hilton Head Island’s two oceanfront layouts.

Indeed, bicycling has long been renowned as one of Hilton Head’s most versatile activities. More than one million bikers annually enjoy the island’s 50 miles of paved, winding bike paths — including five miles within Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort itself — or along Hilton Head’s pristine beaches.

Now, Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort is taking bicycling to the links, helping celebrate National Bike Month in May with the initial delivery of Golf Bikes.

Palmetto Dunes received nine of the first 100 Golf Bikes being delivered this month across the country which allows golfers the ability to play at the speed of a cart while getting paid back with fun and fitness.

“We are always looking for fun new products to enhance our golf experience and The Golf Bike really caught our attention,” said Director of Golf Clark Sinclair.  “These specially prepared golf bikes should heighten the fitness experience of a round at Palmetto Dunes.”

The Golf Bike, available at all three courses, will cost the same amount as a golf cart. Golfers interested in using a Golf Bike during their rounds at Palmetto Dunes can reserve one when making their tee time reservation.

Built from the ground up to play golf, The Golf Bike’s step-thru frame allows golfers to easily get on and off the bike. The bike holds up to 14 clubs and supplies are integrated into the frame of the bike, making it stable and easy to balance. The bike’s wide tires and small diameter wheels make for easy acceleration with less impact to the course than a motorized cart.

In 2010, the first prototype Golf Bike was designed and then presented at the 2013 PGA Show’s Inventors Spotlight. Some courses tested the bikes last year before the first 100 of 600 Golf Bikes were delivered this month.

The Golf Bike is yet another Hilton Head Island first and head-turning amenity that’s available at the place Travel and Leisure Magazine called “The Best Family Golf Resort” in the country, on an Island that Golf Digest calls one of its “Top 10 Buddy Trip Destinations.”

Last summer, Palmetto Dunes introduced its exclusive Visage GPS system to the golf carts at the Robert Trent Jones Course that allows for an interactive experience. Previously, it rolled out the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art golf app on Hilton Head Island that allows you to book future rounds and see what else is happening on and off the three courses and was the place that brought golf-outfitted Segways to the Island a few years ago.

Introducing the 2015 Spring/Summer Sunice Silver Apparel Collection

(Montreal, Quebec) - The 2015 Spring/Summer Sunice Silver Apparel collection is now on the shelves.  The collection is focused on providing the golf market the best performance apparel available - while keeping the company's promise to provide a balance of style complimenting the technical aspects of the garments.  Sunice 2015 is all about comfort and function - addressing the needs of the golfer and designing and developing garments that meet their specific use to allow them to perform better while playing.

Sunice is continuing to expand its highly technical apparel line. Sunice Silver uses X-Static and XT2 fabrics in its polo collection. The success of Sunice's golf platform derives from its capability to offer innovation through research and development and diversification in all products providing the ultimate freedom to play, no matter the weather.

"In all our collections and categories of products we always look to our heritage in outerwear and the DNA of the brand that was a result of our focus on creating the best performance outerwear in the world that allowed the golf er to play in any weather condition", said Micheline Gallant, Sunice designer for golf.  "Our silver collection is a manifestation of that same philosophy - the X-static technology used in all our sportswear polos provides cooling benefits to the player as it is thermal regulating, anti odour and UV protection.  These shirts are more comfortable to play in as they do not cling to the body as most polyester shirts, allows you to manage your body heat and protects from the harmful UV rays of the sun.   Wearing a polo using the Sunice Silver X-static technology lets the golfer feel confident when leaving the golf course after 18 rounds - they look as great as they did when they started their round."

Highlights of the 2015 Sunice Silver Collection

"In continuing to strive to be the leader in technical golf apparel - we at Sunice wanted to find the ultimate performance fabric for our pools that would reflect our commitment to bringing the best technical fabrics to our golf collection - to act as an extension of your golf equipment - as we believe what you wear is equally as important as what you play with", say Gallant. "In doing so we formed an exclusive partnership with X-Static - a permanent technology that uses 99.9% pure silver filaments in the fabrication of our yarns.  Sunice is the only golf apparel company to have the silver technology in its garments, featuring X-Static and XT2 fabrics."
