Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Spa & Golf Resort to Host South Pacific Golf Classic

Taking Place September 11-16, Marriott Golf-Managed, World-Class Beach Resort to Host Four Round Pro-Am Tournament with $60,000 in Professional Prize Money

(ORLANDO, Fla.) - On the heels of its global expansion in the South Pacific, Marriott Golf, the Global Golf Division of Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR), has announced that the Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Spa & Golf Resort will host the South Pacific Golf Classic. Taking place from September 11th – 16th, the Pro-Am tournament will offer $60,000 in prize money for participating golf professionals.

The inaugural Sheraton Deva Legends South Pacific Golf Classic, an international pro-am tournament, will be played over 4 rounds on two excellent golf courses, as part of the Australasian PGA Legends Tour. The field will be made up of approximately 40 professionals and 80 amateurs, with only 40 spots available for overseas amateur golfers to compete. The tournament is open to men or women, and amateurs must have a current handicap, with limits at 27 for men and 30 for women.

The first two rounds of the tournament will be played at the fantastic new Sheraton Deva championship course in Bourail, then a day off to travel back to Noumea followed by the final two rounds at Tina golf course. All competitors will play all four rounds of the tournament. There will be one professional and 3 amateurs in each group for the first 3 rounds then the final round will feature a seeded draw based on score, with the leading two pros paired with the leading two amateurs and so forth throughout the field.

Accommodation for the first three nights will be at the newly opened $250 million Sheraton New Caledonia Deva Spa & Golf Resort which is located at Bourail, a leisurely 2 hours’ drive north of Noumea’s international airport. This exceptional resort has 180 rooms, suites & bungalow’s, 13 kilometres of white sand beach facing the UNESCO World Heritage lagoon and reef, a world class Deep Nature Spa and a range of leisure activities for non-golfers.  On day four, participants transfer to New Caledonia’s capital Noumea, where they will spend 3 nights at the beautiful beachfront Le Meridien Nouméa Resort & Spa. The Grand Casino de Noumea is next door and the resort is only 10 minutes from the downtown shopping area and Tina golf course.
